According to the Alahed news agency, the minister emphasized that Lebanon is suffering from the Israeli regime’s attacks because they have deliberately targeted the country’s agriculture sector, destroying a vast area of its farmlands using internationally forbidden phosphorus munitions.
In his remarks, Al Haj Hassan also highlighted that the number of martyrs and missing Palestinians in Gaza has now surpassed 40,000, and he condemned those states that remained silent in the face of the Israeli regime’s crimes in the besieged strip.
The Washington Post newspaper previously reported that the Israeli regime bombarded the al-Dhahirah district in southern Lebanon using white phosphorus ammunition supplied by the US.
Amnesty International has also verified the use of white phosphorus bombs by the Israeli regime against southern Lebanon. The human rights organization emphasized in a statement that non-combatant people were targeted during the attack.
White phosphorus is a toxic substance that burns at temperatures exceeding 800 degrees Celsius, high enough to melt metal. It emits a garlic-like odor and can ignite fast-spreading fires, creating thick smoke over wide areas.
